The Chatikrate dynasty is a royal family, supreme rulers of the planet Artagnax by ancient right. Their presence dominates all that which they rule over, most notably through gigantic replicas of the royals’ faces, as they looked in their youth. Their visages adorn buildings, vehicles, and spaceships. A culture so obsessed with their rulers has no room for gods, and the Chatikrate dynasty has little care or understanding of religion and spirituality.
The planet Artagnax has a native biosphere of crystalline flora and fauna. The glittering lifeforms reflect the amber skies above, the result of unique gases gathering in the upper atmosphere. The world has been partially terraformed to allow for human habitation: great forests cover large parts of the world. Their trees all have black leaves, a necessary genetic modification for photosynthesis in this environment.
The royal family, the nobility, and their favoured servants live in grandiose palaces on the beautiful crystal plains. The much more numerous commoners live in the gloomy forests, either in dense cities or small villages. Large families are valued among the populace, an ingrained tradition since the harsh days of early settlement. Another reminder of those days is the advanced pharmaceutical industries of Artagnax - no longer as necessary for survival as they once were, though a useful asset for the future to be sure.
But the premier resource of Artagnax is vitaq fuel. A hyper-efficient type of spaceship fuel created with the unique gases in the planet’s atmosphere. A ship can travel across the galaxy with an amount of vitaq fuel that would only have lasted a few light years, had it been common fuel.
The Chatikrate dynasty now reaches for the stars, seeking their ultimate destiny.
